After turbulent start, Yacht Show set to blow away patrons

The opening of the Yacht Show at National Harbor got off to a rough start because of major storms that moved through the Washington, D.C. metro area yesterday.

The show had been scheduled to open yesterday, but strong winds blew the 15,000-square-foot exhibitor tent apart, Colin Robertson, director of marketing, said in an e-mail to Soundings Trade Only.

No serious injuries and no damage to boats were reported.

The staff of United States Yacht Shows worked yesterday to get a replacement tent up, and exhibitors restored to their booth spaces.

The show is now up and running through the weekend.
