Trade Only wins magazine award

Soundings Trade Only won an Apex Award for Publication Excellence.

APEX awards are held annually and are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and overall communications. This year there were nearly 5,000 entries in 11 major categories.

Associate editor Melanie Winters won in the feature writing category for her article, “Scraping Bottom,” which took a comprehensive look at 20 years of budget cutting, which dried up federal funds for dredging even as shoaling in the nation’s recreational waterways have been reaching a danger point.

Winters, in her stories, pointed out that if nothing is done, the ramifications for the marine industry could be drastic.
