Foundation receives FEMA grant for hurricane education

The Florida Boating Foundation has been awarded a $313,000 hurricane education grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to produce and distribute DVDs for boaters and marine businesses in the state.

“We are really excited about the opportunity to educate boaters and marine businesses throughout Florida on precautions needed to protect against damage from hurricanes,” said David Ray, director of FBFI. “We are confident that we can make a real impact on what folks do and how they do it by providing good information.”

The foundation will produce DVDs for boaters, marinas and marine businesses with information on preparation before and during storm season, when a storm forms, after a storm, and recovering from and preventing recurring loss, along with resources, contacts and Web sites for additional information.
