Changing Places

Corey Koopmans joined Vicem Yachts USA, the U.S. sales and service operation for Turkish motoryacht builder Vicem Yachts, as broker in the Fort Lauderdale sales office.

Koopmans grew up boating on the lakes near his hometown of Holland, Mich. As a student at WesternMichigan University in 2000, he took a summer job detailing boats for Gull Lake Marine. He helped create and launch the marina’s boating detail operation, which now serves more than 700 boats.

He became a certified delivery captain through Cobalt Boats, and eventually an executive sales representative.

In 2006, Koopmans joined mahogany runabout builder Grand Craft as a sales associate and was later promoted to sales director and then vice president of sales and marketing.

Based in Istanbul, Vicem Yachts builds motoryachts, sportfishing boats and cruisers from 50 to 115 feet. Its first 150-foot megayacht currently is under construction.
