Marine trades open house next week in R.I.
Posted on 17 October 2008
Open houses at marine trade businesses in Bristol and Warren, R.I., will be offered by the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 25.
More than 20 firms at selected East Bay sites will be offering tours to introduce the boating industry to local and state officials, business partners and associates, those interested in marine industry careers, and the general public.
The marine trades are a major industry in the East Bay area. It’s one of four cluster industries recently recognized by the Governor’s Workforce Board as targeted for growth in the Ocean State.
The open houses will include informational exhibits by a number of schools — International Yacht Restoration School, MotoRing Technical Training Institute and New England Institute of Technology — along with community assistance organizations such as MY TURN Rhode Island and Mosaico Community Development Corporation.
