Nominations sought for ‘unsung hero’ sailing honor

US Sailing and Old Pulteney Single Malt Scotch Whisky introduced the inaugural Old Pulteney Maritime Heroes Award. The two brands are joining to express appreciation to men and women in sailing communities across the country for humanitarian achievements.

Friends and families are encouraged to nominate an unsung hero to give that person an opportunity to be recognized for charitable giving, community advocacy, sailing education or other generous acts.

Award nominations will be accepted through Aug. 31 at www.maritimeheroes.com. Finalists will be selected by Old Pulteney and US Sailing. A public vote will be held at the website, and the Maritime Hero will be announced and honored at a gala event in January at US Sailing’s 2013 National Sailing Programs Symposium in Clearwater, Fla.
