Napolitano addresses Coast Guard graduates

The first class of Internet natives graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

That’s according to Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, who said the class that graduated this week was unique for being “the first to grow up in the Internet age.”

Napolitano gave the commencement address Wednesday at the 131st commencement ceremony. It was held in Leamy Auditorium at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.

“Today we face a world of evolving threats, and the qualities you have developed over the last four years at the United States Coast Guard Academy are exactly what our nation needs,” Napolitano said, according to a Homeland Security Department press release.

Last year the Coast Guard rescued more than 3,800 men and women.
