Michigan trade group sets educational conference

The Michigan Boating Industries Association is holding its 2012 Recreational Boating Educational Conference in East Lansing in December.

Business leaders in the recreational boating industry will be at the Kellogg Center Hotel and Conference Center on Dec. 5-6 for the event.

The MBIA added a second new “track” for dealers to the conference in partnership with the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas’ Marine Retail University at RBEC.

The content will include information about statistical surveys, boat sales, trends and dealer performance and marketing expertise. The conference is one of three locations across the country where MRAA will host a Marine Retail University.

The MBIA will host its annual awards luncheon on Dec. 6; the 2012 MBIA Hall of Fame recipients, Lighthouse Award winners and new board members will be announced.

“The proximity of East Lansing should encourage all members statewide to attend this year’s conference,” MBIA chairman Jim Coburn said in a statement. “There has never been a better time to share ideas, learn and network as the industry slowly climbs out of this recession.”
