VIDEO: Beneteau’s ‘Greatest Loop’ voyage continues

beneteau0521The Beneteau Swift Trawler 34 named The Greatest Loop is continuing its promotional tour around the Great Loop, making about 8.5 knots heading into the Erie Canal today after spending the night at Coeymans Landing Marina south of Albany, N.Y.

“So far, so good,” Beneteau America Powerboat Division marketing director Maryline O'Shea said during a stopover Friday at Surfside 3 Marina in New York.

The French builder is using the newly launched boat, hull No. 202 in the model line, to promote its powerboat line, which was introduced into the North American market last year.

The tour will encompass the Hudson River, most of the Great Lakes, the Mississippi River, the Tombigbee River, Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway and then north on the ICW, returning to Annapolis in September.

Between the tour’s start last Tuesday in Annapolis and its completion, the boat will make the 7,000-mile journey around the Great Loop in 41 legs, most of them with different captains and crew. Each stop will be used to open the boat up to local dealerships and the public.

Follow the boat’s progress and interact with the crew at www.thegreatestloop.com or through the project’s Facebook page.

Fantastic! I am originally from Syracuse NY, living in Florida the past 25 years. I really like the look of your boat and I think it is great you are sending pictures and videos so the rest of us that can't be there can at least get part of the experience of what it must be like to travel the loop.
