Herreshoff Marine Museum gains sailing grant

The Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, R.I., received a seamanship program grant for beginner, intermediate and advanced sailing students ages 8 to adult.

The grant comes from the Rhode Island International Sailing Association. The program, which begins June 25, has full and partial scholarships for needs-based students.

Sailing instruction will, in part, take place on the iconic antique Herreshoff 12-1/2, which was built in Bristol between 1914 and 1939.

The grant is primarily for residents 19 and under who demonstrate financial need.
