ABYC issues new small-craft standards guide

The American Boat and Yacht Council's Standards and Technical Information Reports for Small Craft with Supplement 52 is now available.

"With new technology and the increasing complexity of boat systems, it is extremely important to have current and relevant standards to protect the boating public," ABYC technical director Brian Goodwin said in a statement.

Goodwin, along with industry professionals, is responsible for the continual testing and evaluation of safety components.

Changes include a correction on inflatable boat standards, the addition of standards on power conversion equipment, and the withdrawal of a battery charger standard.

The Standards and Technical Information Reports for Small Craft is available for purchase on CD, and as a paper manual in limited quantities. ABYC members receive a discount on their purchase and have unlimited access to the standards online through WebSTIR, which is found on the ABYC website.
