Maine governor tours Front Street Shipyard

Maine Gov. Paul LePage today is visiting Front Street Shipyard, a boatyard that opened last year and recently purchased the neighboring Belfast Boatyard.

LePage will begin with a tour of the yard, which services boats as large as 160 feet. The tour will be followed by a reception at which he will meet shipyard employees.

Operating in Belfast, Maine, since March 2011, Front Street Shipyard undertakes new builds and refits for an array of boats, from classic wooden yachts to advanced composite constructions. Since it opened, Front Street Shipyard has grown to employ 82 full-time, year-round employees and is still growing.

The recent purchase of neighboring property will give Front Street Shipyard the ability to store and service more boats, which will, in turn, expand its operations and increase its market base.
