Nautor’s Swan marks production milestone

When the new Swan 90S, Freya, was launched Tuesday at the Nautor's Swan facility in Pietarsaari, Finland, it was the 2,000th new Swan built since the company was founded.

Nautor’s Swan said it has delivered 95 models of Swan, from the first Swan 36 to the new Swan105, during its 46-year history.

The very first Swan, hull No. 1, was the Swan 36-001, Tarantella, designed by Sparkman & Stephens. It was delivered to its owner on July 17, 1967. Nautor’s Swan now owns Tarantella and the builder said it is based at the yard in Pietarsaari and is in perfect condition and still sailing.

Freya is set to leave the yard Sept. 14 after a month of commisioning.

“Delivery of the Swan 90S, Freya, marks an incredible achievement for Nautor’s Swan and our team,” Nautor’s Swan managing director Enrico Chieffi said in a statement. “The Swan 90 is an iconic model within the current Swan line, and it is fitting that the 2,000th Swan delivered should cement it in our history books. With a busy schedule of launches and commissioning ahead of us for the rest of the summer, we are looking forward to reaching many more milestones in the years to come.”
