Show Management, which manages and produces five major boat shows in Florida, including the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, announced that its mobile app, MyBoatShow, won a 2012 W3 Gold Award from the International Academy of the Visual Arts.
Fewer than 10 percent of more than 3,000 entries were selected as gold-level winners.
The W3 Awards are sanctioned and judged by the academy, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from media, interactive, advertising, public relations and marketing firms. Members include executives from organizations such as Brandweek, Disney, HBO, Wired and Yahoo. The awards honor outstanding Web and mobile marketing submitted by marketing firms and web designers around the world. MyBoatShow was judged based on creativity, usability, navigation, functionality, visual design and ease of use.
Launched at the 2011 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the free app, available on iPhone and Android platforms, provides show maps and allows attendees to search for exhibitors, manufacturers, product categories and boats by specifications and size.
The app, available for all Show Management-produced boat shows, also provides the show schedule, seminar information, show transportation schedules and maps, food and drink locations, restroom locations and emergency services. It also can be used to purchase show tickets and see the latest show news.
New features for MyBoatShow, set to debut Oct. 25-29 at the 2012 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, include the following:
• A new search feature allowing attendees to search for boats by name
• An upgraded "favorite" feature enabling users to see which boats they favored at other Show Management-produced boat shows
• A contact form renamed "Connect" that allows users to connect with Show Management, access its YouTube page, Twitter, Facebook and have the ability to subscribe to the Show Management e-newsletter
Specializing in event production, Show Management has made the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach and the Palm Beach International Boat Show three of the world's largest in-water boat shows.
