FLIBS 2012: AIM awards gala moved to W Hotel

The Editor’s Choice Awards hosted by Active Interest Media at this year's Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will change venues in anticipation of Friday’s rain.

The event will take place at 8 p.m. Friday at the W Hotel on Highway A1A, Pierson Grant Public Relations president Jane Grant told Soundings Trade Only.

It had been set to occur at the Nova Southeastern University’s Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Ecosystems Research.

“Because of gusty winds out on the water, Nova and Show Management have decided to move the Editor’s Choice Awards dinner to the beautiful W Hotel,” Grant said. “The W has been extremely cooperative in making that happen.”

The awards tribute and dinner will honor the best in the industry for 2012.

An aerial flyover that had been set for today is being rescheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday and the fireworks scheduled for Friday night are going to instead take place at 7 p.m. Sunday.
