Police seek displaced-boat owners in New Jersey

The New Jersey State Police are renewing efforts to reconnect boat owners with more than 500 unclaimed boats displaced as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

Anyone looking for their vessel should call the marine bureau station in Point Pleasant, where a database is being built of these orphaned boats, state police Sgt. Adam Grossman told the South Jersey Times.

The database includes more than 500 vessels, he said.

“We want to make the public aware we are trying to marry up the owners to the boats,” Grossman told the paper. “They are the property owners, but if the boats go unclaimed for so long they could lose them.”
