The U.K.-based Nautical Channel, the only worldwide 24/7 channel dedicated to nautical sports and lifestyle, signed industry veteran Ed Baker as vice president of sales to lead advertising sales and partnerships with the nautical industry in the United States.
“We are delighted to have Ed on board to strengthen our relationship with the nautical industry nationwide,” Nautical Channel CEO and founder Laurence F. Hopper said in a statement.
Baker comes to the Nautical Channel with 10 years of recreational marine industry experience and more than 25 years in advertising sales. He most recently was vice president of corporate sales and publisher at Yachting magazine. He will focus on sales and nautical partnerships.
“The Nautical Channel demographic is the best way to reach the domestic and worldwide nautical audience,” Baker said in a statement. “I am enthusiastic to be able to help Nautical Channel reach out to the nautical industry.”
Launched Dec. 5, 2011, the Nautical Channel is available in 37 countries on more than 100 cable and satellite platforms with more than 20 million subscribers. The channel was launched in the U.S. on the Dish Network in August.
The Nautical Channel provides viewers with sports and lifestyle programming explained by international experts in a clear and simple way for all levels of boating expertise. The programming includes reports on the latest sail and powerboat racing, offshore fishing, surfing, luxury yachting and documentaries on subjects such as sharks and rescue services.
