The harbor of Charlevoix, Mich., which bisects Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan, was named the Grand Winner in US Harbors’ “Best Harbor in the U.S.” annual contest.
More than 2,500 voters this year nominated 335 locations, US Harbors said in a statement.
For the first time, the third-annual contest is recognizing regional winners.
• Pacific: Depoe Bay, Ore.
• Northeast: Padanaram, South Dartmouth, Mass.
• Mid-Atlantic: Oyster Bay, N.Y.
• Southeast: Hilton Head, S.C.
• Gulf Coast: Englewood / Lemon Bay, Fla.
Depoe Bay and Padanaram, South Dartmouth, are Best Harbor in the U.S. past winners.

Winners receive commemorative plaques, and one will receive a free tide station from Divirod.
An online awards ceremony will celebrate the winners on June 22 at 3 p.m. ET.
