Pettit Marine Paint signed an exclusive agreement with I-Tech AB to develop a new antifouling biocide. Biotechnology company I-Tech AB previously developed Selektope, which repels barnacle larvae through natural receptor stimulation. The companies will work together to develop a line of antifouling coatings for the yacht market using Selektope.
The Marine Marketers of America announced a final call for entries for its 2020 Neptune Awards, with a deadline of Jan. 15. The awards cover 22 categories, including a new “Best Pandemic Marketing Effort” category, and are open to any marine industry marketing organization for work produced within the 2020 calendar year. “Marketing under the unique conditions of 2020 required upping your game,” MMA vice president and awards committee co-chair Sally Helme said in a statement. “We encourage marine marketers to take advantage of this opportunity to promote and showcase how they handled 2020’s challenges and share their best work with their peers in the industry.” Click here to enter.
The Marine Trades Association of Maryland announced that Elizabeth Young completed a six-week training program at Annapolis Boat Yard in a project funded by the state’s EARN Maryland grant program. Young learned of MTAM’s on-the-job-training program during a career day event at the Baltimore Boat Show. “I wanted to work with my hands,” Young said in a statement, “and getting into an industry that provides lots of opportunity seemed like a better financial decision for me than college is at the moment.”
