The third annual Soundings Trade Only 1+1 Mentoring Program recently concluded, having facilitated more than 150 virtual sessions between newcomers and leaders in the marine industry.

The program started with a kickoff event on June 13 with participation from about 100 recreational boating industry professionals. The event centered on the theme of branding and featured a keynote address by Lauren Jones, founder and CEO of Brand by Boudica. It was sponsored by Correct Craft, West Marine, MarineMax, Volvo Penta, Sea Tow, MRAA and the Luxury Financial Group. A recording of the event is available here.

“Each year, we refine the program based on feedback from both leaders and participants,” Michele Goldsmith, vice president and general manager of the Soundings Trade Only Group, said in a statement. “This year, we introduced reverse mentoring, where leaders asked newcomers about their experiences in the industry. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all participants, leaders, sponsors, attendees to Lauren Jones for her inspiring keynote, and the companies that promoted this opportunity to their new members.”

Participants in the program came from South Africa, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Australia and the U.S. “The connections made through this program help newcomers gain essential knowledge, develop new skills and find a supportive environment for their questions,” Goldsmith added in the statement.

The 1+1 Mentoring Program is part of the Women in the Industry series, which has engaged more than 1,600 individuals since its inception in 2021. The next session is scheduled for June 2025.
