The Central Gulf Marine Trades Association made a $20,000 donation to OneWater Marine’s PanhandleRelief.org to help people still affected by Hurricane Michael.
“The CGMTA recognizes that our friends in Panama City and Mexico Beach still need our help and attention,” said Saunders Yachtworks president John Fitzgerald in a statement. “We hope that our support of the Panhandle Relief Fund will get money into the hands of people still struggling to put their lives back together in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. Hurricane recovery lasts for months and years after a storm devastates a community. We are grateful for the generosity of our members.”
PanhandleRelief.org in partnership with Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida, has helped thousands of individuals with longterm recovery. This assistance has included home repairs, debris removal, and basic needs such as food and shelter. Over $300,000 has been raised and well over 39,000 volunteer hours have supported these efforts.
“There is still so much need, and the recovery will take years. We are making a dent with the assistance of wonderful people like the members of CGMTA, and our partners at Catholic Charities,” said OneWater Marine regional marketing manager Peggy King. “We have received donations from all over the country, and from many of our friends in the marine industry. We hope people will not forget about our neighbors to the East. Some areas look exactly as they did one year ago today.”
