The New York Times recently published a column titled, “Some purchases may still be worth the price,” in which the writer advocates looking at buying a boat as an investment in something more valuable than the money spent.
While author Ron Lieber said he understands the mentality of looking at it as unnecessary spending of discretionary income, but life is about more than how much you have in your retirement account.
“A boat is also an investment in relationships, something that isn’t readily apparent until you’re on one a lot,” Lieber writes.
