In a Sept. 19 gala at the Palazzo Ducale, the Genoa International Boat Show announced the winners of its annual Design Innovation Awards. There were more than 100 entrants to the contest, each of them on display at the Genoa show, which runs through today. The closing press conference will be held tomorrow, Sept. 23.
Awards were handed out in 10 categories, plus three special prizes and two honorable mentions. The winners were chosen by an independent jury of experts in the fields of boating, design and culture, chaired this year by Walter De Silva. De Silva is a contemporary automotive designer, winner of the Compasso d’Oro alla Carriera in 2011 (a lifetime achievement award) and an Ambassador of Italian Excellence in the World.
“I was thrilled to talk about design with my fellow jury members and very pleased to preside over the proceedings,” De Silva said in a statement. “The most important, and perhaps the most complicated, phase was ensuring the jury was able to express themselves, without intervening and simply attempting to mediate, to find the right solution. It was a truly constructive experience because the Design Innovation Award is based on open thinking.”

• Sailboats (over 10m LH and up to 14m LH): X-Yachts XR41

• Powerboats (up to 14m LH): Pardo 43 (Cantiere del Pardo ). Exterior design: Nauta Design, Zuccheri Yacht Design. Interior design: Nauta Design. Naval Architect: Zuccheri Yacht Design
• Powerboats over 14 m LH: Ferretti 800. Exterior Design: Filippo Salvetti. Interior design: Ideaeitalia. Naval architect: Piero Ferrari, Engineering Department Ferretti Group.
• Superyachts (over 24m LH): Sanlorenzo SL110A. Exterior design: Zuccon International Project. Interior design: Lissoni and Partners.
• Maxi-RIBs (over 10m LH): Stradivari 52 (Cantieri Capelli). Design: Cantieri Capelli Technical Department, Giuseppe Bagnardi.
• Multihulls: Bluegame BGF45. Designer: Luca Santella, Zuccon International Project. Hull design: Bluegame, Caponnetto Hueber.
• Boating equipment and components: IPS Professional Platform, Volvo Group Italia.
• Electronics and software: Force Pro, Garmin
