Dealers attending the Marine Dealer Conference & Expo will get a chance to hear four of the best dealership ideas of the year at the annual Best Ideas panel discussion.

Four dealers were selected as finalists in this year’s Best Ideas program:

• Desmasdon’s Boatworks, for its development of an app for customers

• Lake Union Sea Ray, for its “Featured Boat of the Week” test-drive program

• Marine Connection, for the creation of a system of digital interactive price signs

• Seattle Boat Co., for its crisis preparation plan and for overcoming a fire earlier this year

All four will present their ideas at 8 a.m. Nov.19 as part of the educational sessions at MDCE in a panel discussion moderated by Boating Industry magazine editor-in-chief Jonathan Sweet.

As finalists, all four will receive American Express gift cards. After the presentations, the audience will vote for the Best Idea of the Year. Before the conference comes to a close, Boat Trader will present the dealership employee who submitted the winning idea with a new iPad.

All of the ideas submitted for the 2013 program will be published in an e-white paper produced by Boating Industry and distributed free throughout the industry, thanks to Boat Trader.

The MDCE, co-sponsored by Boating Industry and the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas, will be held Nov. 17-20 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
