A Fishing Expo is being added to the Progressive Cleveland Boat Show, which is scheduled for Jan. 16-20 at the International Exposition Center.

“The northern Ohio region is rich in fishing opportunities,” said Lake Erie Marine Trades Association president Michelle Burke in a statement. “We have excellent smallmouth bass and the world’s best walleye fishery in Lake Erie, and our inland lakes are known for great largemouth bass, muskies and more. Moreover, there currently isn’t a good fishing show in northern Ohio. Now there will be.”

LEMTA signed a multiyear agreement with the International Exposition Center to produce the Fishing Expo in conjunction with the boat show. To meet demands for increased show space and to accommodate the Fishing Expo, LEMTA is expanding the footprint for the combined events by more than 100,000 square feet.

One of Ohio’s largest and most popular fishing retailers, Fisherman’s Central, was named the combined show’s presenting sponsor, so it’s fitting that LEMTA renamed the event, Burke said.

The show will now be known as the Progressive Cleveland Boat Show and Fishing Expo, presented by Fisherman’s Central.

Burke said the Expo will emphasize a variety of hands-on experiences, including a trout pond, casting challenges, kayak-fishing demos and virtual fishing simulators, as well as seminars and clinics with angling pros.
