Spring shows are on tap this weekend in Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The fourth annual Essex Spring Boat Show opens today and runs through Sunday on the west bank of the Connecticut River in Essex, Conn.

The event brings together Soundings magazine — the media sponsor — Brewer Dauntless Shipyard & Marina and six Essex-based dealers and brokers: Boatworks Yacht Sales, Wilde Yacht Sales, Eastland Yachts, Hank Aldrich Yacht Sales, Prestige Yacht Sales and the Essex Marine Group.

More than 50 new and used sailboats and powerboats from 23 to 60 feet will be on display. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Brewer Dauntless Marina at 9 Novelty Lane. Admission and parking are free.

The other regional event is the Brewer Yacht Sales Spring In-Water Used Boat Show, which will be held Saturday and Sunday at two locations: Brewer Pilots Point Marina in Westbrook, Conn., and Brewer Greenwich Bay Marina in Warwick, R.I.

The show, which Brewer says is the largest in-water used boat show in New England, will feature powerboats and sailboats from 18 to 64 feet. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days, and admission is free.
