SaferBoater, a Charleston, S.C.-based non-profit that offers on-water boat operation training, hired Chris Edmonston as CEO. Edmonston, a past president of the BoatUS Foundation, will spearhead the “My New Boat” program for new boat owners.

“I love boating and being on the water — what could be better than helping others enjoy learning how to be safe and confident boaters?” Edmonston said in a statement. The program is intended to simplify the scheduling of trainers and facilitates partnerships with dealerships.

SaferBoater offers training on boats from 15 to 100 feet through US Sailing, US Powerboating and the National Safe Boating Council, and is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
