MCBC Holdings Inc., parent company of MasterCraft Boat Co. and Nautic Star, increased net sales 7.2 percent, to $65 million in the first quarter, but saw gross margins decrease 140 basis points, to 27.9 percent.

MasterCraft CEO Terry McNew said the company plans to ramp up production in order to meet current demand at NauticStar and will make some initial investments in general and administrative expenses.

MasterCraft said today that it has acquired NauticStar LLC, a manufacturer and distributor of 18- to 28-foot bay boats, deck boats and offshore center consoles, for about $79.8 million.
