Derik Wagner has joined Derecktor Shipyards as director of sales at the company’s Dania Beach, Fla. superyacht facility.
The company is preparing to bring its new Fort Pierce location online this summer and the Florida facilities will operate in unison.
“Our company is growing and fortunate to hire someone of Derik’s caliber,” Paul Derecktor, president, said in a statement. “We are confident in his ability to lead our sales team as we expand into the megayacht and large sailing yacht market.”
Prior to joining Derecktor, Wagner worked for MTN Satellite Communications providing superyachts with internet and satellite comms. As part of MTN’s executive team, Wagner helped sell MTN to Emerging Market Communications. Following that transaction, Wagner started a firm providing technical and business development consultancy to the superyacht industry.
In 2019, as managing director of Pinmar with Global Yachting Group, he led management and commercial development in the U.S., expanding operations in Fort Lauderdale, Riviera Beach, and Savannah, Ga. He has served in leadership roles with International Superyacht Society, US Superyacht Association and the Marine Industries Association of South Florida.
“Derecktor is a well-respected name within the superyacht industry, most recognized for integrity and quality workmanship,” Wagner said. “It’s an honor to lead the sales team as we introduce the new Fort Pierce yard to the world.”
Established in 1947, Derecktor Shipyards constructs, repairs and refits yachts, workboats, military ships and hybrid vessels. The company has four facilities along the U.S.’s eastern seaboard.
