The Norman-Spencer Agency said Kevin Roggenbuck, owner of Lake Union Sea Ray in Washington, won the 2016 SCCA National Championship Runoffs.

Norman-Spencer has sponsored the Formula 1000 racing team for Lake Union, a large watercraft dealer and a longtime insurance customer of Norman-Spencer’s Marine Insurance Services division.

It was the 53rd annual run of the amateur road-racing event — the end-of-year championship race meeting for Sports Car Club of America Club Racing competitors.

The SCCA National Championship Runoffs was held Sept. 19-25 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

“Kevin has been a longtime partner of Norman-Spencer and his hard work and dedication to winning the championship also shows in his successful business operations. I couldn’t imagine a more deserving person,” Brian Norman said in a statement. “We are extremely proud to be a sponsor of the entire Lake Union Sea Ray Racing Team and excited they get to take the championship home!”

The course consisted of 13 turns along a 2.258-mile configuration. Roggenbuck was able to take and keep a strong lead for most of the race after capitalizing on an opening at the start.

“A big thanks goes out to Norman-Spencer for sponsoring the Lake Union Sea Ray Racing Team in 2016,” Roggenbuck said. “Along with providing us with fantastic business and customer insurance programs, theirs and other sponsorships and support helped us on this incredible journey ending in victory lane.”

Norman-Spencer’s Marine Insurance Services division announced its sponsorship of Roggenbuck and Lake Union Sea Ray Racing in September of 2015.

Roggenbuck is the president of Lake Union Sea Ray, a Boating Industry Top 100 dealer, and has been a marine industry leader for more than 30 years. In 2015 the Lake Union Sea Ray dealership was named the Bayliner Dealer of the Year and the No. 1 independent Sea Ray dealer in the world.
