MarineMax said today that its Panama City Beach store in Florida will team up with local Coast Guard Auxiliary officers to host their June safe boating course.

This course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the company’s Panama City Beach facility.

The course is designed to familiarize a novice or intermediate boater with boat handling and boating safety. It also can serve as a refresher course for more experienced boaters. The cost is $35 per participant and $20 for each additional family member and includes all classroom materials and lunch.

“This informative, hands-on course is a seminar version of the U.S.C.G. Auxiliary’s popular online course,” MarineMax Panama City Beach sales consultant and broker Bob Fowler said in a statement.

“We try to have fun while interacting with personal instructors by sharing important safety practices, operational skills and maintenance advice that will keep you and your family protected while having fun on the water.”

Topics to be covered include general boating basics and knowledge, boating restrictions and regulations, required and recommended safety equipment, how to safely operate and navigate a boat and how to handle issues that may arise.

The seminar also will cover trailering, storing and protecting a boat, and how to properly operate when hunting, fishing, water skiing or operating on a river.
