MarineMax was named a winner in the National Boating Industry Safety Awards for its “Back to (Boating) School” campaign.
The Sea Tow Foundation’s Boating Safety Advisory Council established the awards program to recognize efforts by for-profit companies that promote safety on the water.
MarineMax’s campaign focused on the back-to-school timeframe to remind all boaters about the importance of ongoing education and safety.
“With an influx of new boaters over the last few years, we created a fun and interactive campaign to test everyone’s boating knowledge,” Keith Lake, MarineMax Clearwater delivery captain and host of the “Boating Tips” podcast, said in a statement. “As kids headed back to school, we are reminded that there is still a lot to learn in the world of boating. The interactive quiz had almost 300 responses with over 80 percent completion rate.”
Gail R. Kulp, executive director of the Sea Tow Foundation, said the program received a record number of applicants this year. “MarineMax’s award-winning project is a great example of how companies can promote boating safety through innovation, creativity and passion,” she said in the statement. “We hope more companies follow in their footsteps and help keep the water a safe and fun place for everyone.”
