Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd., has presented Dometic with a Global Award for Excellence in Technology and Development for the SeaStar Yamaha Integrated Electric Steering Actuator.
The actuator has been used on Yamaha’s 425-hp XTO Offshore, the manufacturer’s largest outboard motor. SeaStar representatives traveled to Japan to accept the award during the Yamaha Motor Co. 2019 Global Suppliers Conference. According to Dometic, this is the first time that Yamaha has presented the award to a North American supplier.
“We are deeply honored to accept this award on behalf of our entire company,” Eric Fetchko, president of Dometic Marine Americas, said in a statement. “This highly contested award recognizes excellence in more than just the marine industry. SeaStar was competing with thousands of suppliers around the world manufacturing parts for Yamaha Motor Co. across a wide range of business sectors including motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, snowmobiles, golf carts, Waverunners, boats and outboard engines.”
Dometic says that the technology used in the actuator is being developed for outboards with tiller arm steering and it will be available in late 2019.
