Registration is open for the American Boat and Yacht Council’s Marine Law Symposium, scheduled for Jan. 8 at the Renaissance Hotel in Seattle.

The symposium will include a review of two fatal boating accidents and the lawsuits that followed — one resulting in a verdict, appeal and retrial, the other involving an improper repair.

In addition to the case studies, the agenda includes a mock deposition and an examination of the role of law enforcement officer as an expert witness.

“The combination of speakers from fields such as law enforcement, general industry experts, insurance and legal creates a diversified learning experience such that anyone in the industry can benefit from the symposium,” Christina Paul, a partner at K&L Gates, said in a statement.

More information, including how to register for the symposium, is available here.
