The American Boat & Yacht Council this week announced that it published the 62nd supplement to its Standards and Technical Information Reports for Small Craft. The update includes 20 new and revised standards and technical information reports, including guidance for lithium-ion batteries, warnings and safety signs for boats, and manufacturer statements of origin.

“ABYC has developed technical tools to assist the industry to prepare for 2024 model year requirements today,” ABYC technical vice president Craig Scholten said in a statement. “These helpful resources include an overview document that highlights the major changes, a compliance audit checklist and test report templates. Having a complete technical file on your product is the best way to minimize issues and maximize customer satisfaction.”

ABYC will host a free webinar Aug. 17 to provide an overview of what it calls the “largest supplement published to date.” Other updates include fuel fill testing requirements, power assist hydraulic steering systems, zone of protection for jetboat propulsion controls and outboard weights.
