The American Boat & Yacht Council today announced that ISO reappointed technical vice president Craig Scholten as chair of the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee 188 for Small Craft through 2026.

Working groups within the technical committee develop and create more than 80 documents used in the design, construction and testing of recreational boats up to 24 meters. Panel experts on the committee have insights that enhance overall safety, contributing to a global reduction in accidents.

“I am pleased and honored to serve another three-year term as chair of ISO TC 188,” Scholten said in a statement. “We have made excellent improvements to enhance boating safety and made major gains in standardizing global boatbuilding requirements. Boating is enjoyed around the world, and our work has a major impact on future products, as well as the satisfaction of the experience.”
