The American Boat & Yacht Council’s Standards Week in Annapolis, Md., opened Jan. 7 and runs through Jan. 11. The organization will hold its annual meeting and 70th anniversary celebration at ABYC headquarters in Annapolis on Jan. 8.

“Standards Week is vital for shaping the future of boating safety,” ABYC technical director Brian Goodwin said in a statement. “The annual event brings together diverse insights, ensuring out standards meet current challenges and anticipate future needs.”

The week is dedicated to the revision and creation of standards for boat design, construction, maintenance and repair through project technical committee meetings to produce Supplement 64 for Standards and Technical Information Reports for Small Craft, scheduled for publication this July.

The following project technical committees will conduct meetings during Standards Week:

• Electrical

• Electrical Component

• Engine and Powertrain

• Hull and Deck Structures

• Hull Performance

• Navigation Lights and Sound Signal Appliances
