AkzoNobel, the parent of Awlgrip and Interlux, said it will nominate Ben Noteboom as a member of the supervisory board at the company’s annual meeting in April. The board intends to then elect him as chair to succeed Nils Andersen, who is retiring.
“[Noteboom’s] strong track record in executive and non-executive roles, and his board experience in different industries, including the chemical industry, will be valuable additions to AkzoNobel,” deputy chair Byron Grote said in a statement.
A Dutch citizen, Noteboom is chairman of Vopak’s supervisory board and a member of the supervisory board of Aegon. He also held executive positions at Dow Chemicals for nearly nine years.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to join AkzoNobel’s supervisory board and look forward to contributing to the next phase of the company’s transformation as it makes further progress to becoming a frontrunner in the industry,” Noteboom said in the statement.
The appointment is subject to shareholder approval and will be added to the agenda of the general meeting.
