PHOTO COURTESY AMORIMAmorim last week announced the introduction of Navicork, a sustainable decking material made from cork trees.
According to a statement: “Cork is a 100% natural, reusable and recyclable material and is one of the world’s most versatile materials from an environmental, social and economic perspective. Light, resilient, versatile and with excellent levels of thermal and acoustic insulation, cork has unmatched qualities.”
“It is becoming increasingly urgent for the marine industry to re-evaluate its business model and invest in new solutions that ensure the high levels of performance that characterize the sector, while also contributing to its sustainability,” Navicork CEO Alexandre Carneiro said in the statement. “Navicork was born with this mission. We don’t just want to present the market with a sustainable option; we want to challenge it to reinvent itself.”
