Anglers Journal TV starts a new season July 6 on the CBS Sports Network. The fourth season, according to producers, will “chronicle dream trips for the passionate angler.” The series includes trips to the Florida Keys, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and Central America.

Anglers Journal the magazine and the TV show have shared a lot of DNA from the beginning,” said Bill Sisson, editor-in-chief of Anglers Journal magazine. “The concept was always to create a TV show that would make the pages of the magazine come alive.”

Now in its sixth year, Anglers Journal has won several national magazine awards and a host of industry honors for its fishing stories.

The television episodes convey the same quality as the magazine, with exciting footage of catches, colorful fishing characters, stunning fishing grounds and even local cuisine. The crew catch dorado, tuna, blue marlin, sharks and many other species while fishing such locations as Key West, Baja California, Panama and Costa Rica.

Each episode tells a captivating story driven by a strong narrative, sense of place, local flavor and personalities, Sisson said. “We’ve covered some of the same fishing adventures in the magazine that AJTV has filmed — like the Tropic Star Lodge in Panama,” he adds. “The footage is amazing.”

The first episode takes place in the waters off Los Sueños Resort and Marina in Costa Rica, as Sisson, Will Drost and the Maverick sportfishing team target Pacific blue marlin.
