Avikus, HD Hyundai’s autonomous navigation in-house startup, today revealed in a statement plans to demo its autonomous systems designed for recreational boats at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which is scheduled to run Oct. 26-30.
The company will introduce ‘Neuboat,’ an autonomous phase-2 navigation solution for recreational boats, leveraging the power of the Avikus Navigation Assistant System and Docking Assistant System.
The Avikus Navigation Assistant System (NAS) allows a boat to recognize and assess on-the-water situations in real-time and without human intervention through deep learning and sensor fusion algorithms. As data is processed, NAS creates and maintains an optimal route for safe autonomous navigation.
If desired, the system allows users to experience the autonomous navigation process through an augmented reality screen that indicates risk level using different color informational boxes. For convenience, boaters can also control navigation from anywhere on board the boat with a mobile device.
Its Docking Assistant System, or DAS, applies an integrated cognitive system allowing a boat to dock itself. The Avikus 3D surround view system and collision warning alarm, included with the solution, allows users to cope with situations that may occur while docking.
Avikus will hold demonstrations for boat OEMs and electronics manufacturers in conjunction with FLIBS at The Port Marina.
