Italian builder Azimut announced that it introduced a new series of hybrid motoryachts called Seadeck.
“Seadeck is a new starting point for future generations,” Giovanna Vitelli, chair of Azimut-Benetti Group, said in a statement. “We wish, once again, to chart a course that will be an inspiration for the entire industry, so that the theme of respect for the environment is interpreted — as it is for Seadeck — with a concrete approach made up of investment, technological research and the courage to introduce a new lifestyle that embraces the sea.”
Azimut said the yachts produce 20% to 30% lower emissions, as the builder pushes to meet the International Marine Association’s CO2 emissions containment target by 2030.
The Seadeck series comprises models larger than 60 feet and integrates Volvo Penta’s hybrid propulsion system. The hull is 40% carbon fiber, which helps improve efficiency, and a battery pack that replaces a generator delivers a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions over a year of average use, according to Azimut.

“We wanted to create a boat that puts maximum emphasis on the concept of openness and transparency, and that also represented a radical change in terms of the relationship with nature,” co-designer Alberto Mancini said in the statement.
The Seadeck 6, the first model in the series, is scheduled for introduction at Boot Düsseldorf next year. Seadeck 7 and Seadeck 8 models also are planned, according to Azimut.
