
The Boat Harbour Championship, leg two of the 2016 Bahamas Billfish Championship, was held last week at Abaco Beach Resort, with winning team Uno Mas earning the $5,000 Grand Slam bonus.
Uno Mas, a 69-foot Bayliss, started the tournament by releasing a blue marlin, two white marlin and a sailfish on the first day. The team went on to release a white marlin and a sailfish on the second day and capped the win by releasing three blue marlin and a white marlin on the third day.
Sandrita, a 62-foot Ocean, made the scoreboard on all three days, as well, releasing a blue marlin and a white marlin on the first day, a blue marlin on the second day and two blue marlin on the third day. Angler Sandra Fish caught two of those blue marlin, earning the award for Top Lady Angler.
BBC series leader Bamboo, a 40-foot Cabo, released three blues and three sailfish to give the team third place.
The $1 Million Dollar Marlin prize is still up for grabs. The BBC will issue that award to the angler who catches a blue marlin that breaks the current Bahamas record of 1,119 pounds.
Overall championship leaders after the first two legs are: first place, Bamboo, with 5,200 points; second, Sandrita, with 4,900; and third, Uno Mas, with 4,800.
The next leg of the series will be held June 1-4 in Marsh Harbour at the Abaco Beach Resort.
