More than 230 people, including captains, crewmembers, surveyors, owner representatives and business partners, attended the first stage of the 20 anniversary Benetti Yachtmaster, held in Barcelona, Spain, Feb. 19-21. The second stage of the annual event is scheduled for April 22-24 in Key Largo, Fla.
Benetti said in a statement that it introduced a new format this year, with a focus on balancing networking opportunities and structured learning sessions, including presentations, workshops and interviews with leisure and team-building activities.
On the first day, Benetti announced its commitment to environmental stability with support for two foundations, Blue Marine and Water Revolution, as well as the launch of B.Yond, a new category of expedition yacht. Designed for long-term cruising with reduced environmental impact, the yacht has an electric propulsion mode developed by Siemens.
Moderator Davide Seal introduced “The Owner’s Team Perspective,” which featured Thomas Jones, captain of the 90-meter Benetti Lionheart, and marine coatings consultant Rory Marshall.
A parallel workshop called “Guest Host, Body-Mind-Soul” targeted for crewmembers was organized by Gillian Kennedy, a holistic nutrition and lifestyle coach.
On day two, the Benetti management team hosted a series of workshops that focused on the life cycle of a custom yacht, from customer engagement and design to construction and delivery.
On the final day, attendees were put in teams to produce “cubist-style” works of art linked to Benetti’s past, present or future. A panel of experts judged the work, with prizes awarded.
