Broker Association Acquires The Log

Owner Dave Abrams donated his 55-year-old publication to the California Yacht Brokers Association.

The California Yacht Brokers Association announced its acquisition of The Log. Owner Dave Abrams chose to donate the publication to the CYBA rather than sell.

“Dave Abrams expressed his desire to secure a meaningful succession strategy for one of his most iconic and beloved publications,” Dean West, president of the CYBA board, said in a press release. “By entrusting The Log to the CYBA, he has gifted our entire boating community a lasting legacy. We are honored by his trust and take on this responsibility with immense pride.”

The Log will receive fresh backing to expand its digital reach, modernize its online presence and grow its coverage footprint statewide while retaining its print presence on docks, and in marinas and yacht clubs across California, the statement said.

The Maritime Institute, parent entity of The Log, is not part of this acquisition, according to the release.
