Boating and fishing journalists, photographers and videographers were recognized yesterday at the opening of the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show.
This year’s Boating Writers International awards attracted 78 participants who submitted 275 entries in 16 categories. In addition to cash awards, 28 certificates of merit were presented. Each of the categories was judged by four journalists. Firecrown Media Group marine titles, including Soundings Trade Only, were recognized with awards across multiple categories.
Firecrown swept the Business of Boating category. Eric Colby of Soundings Trade Only won first place for “Slip Differentials.” Chris Dixon of Power & Motoryacht won second for “Sportfish USA,” and Alan Jones won third for “New Boater Bubble,” also published in STO.
Overall, Firecrown boating writers and photographers collected:
• 12 first-place awards
• 13 second-place awards
• 11 third-place awards
• 16 merit awards
