The Global Women’s Walk invites everyone in the marine industry to walk 5K (3.2 miles) anytime between May 11-18, coinciding with International Women in Maritime Day. The event — presented in partnership with the Soundings Trade Only Group, Metstrade, British Marine and Marine Industry News — benefits Room to Read, a global nonprofit providing literacy, mentorship and education. The goal is to raise $25,000 to fund an entire school and library for at-risk girls.
Last year, more than 1,200 women and men from five continents and 15 countries participated. This year, organizers said they are channeling that momentum into something even more meaningful.
“Last year was a powerful demonstration of unity and support for the women working in the marine industry,” Michele Goldsmith, vice president and general manager of the Soundings Trade Only Group and founder of the Women in the Industry programs, said in a statement. “This initiative is about more than just taking steps; it’s about strengthening connections, recognizing the impact and contributions of women throughout our industry, and investing in the next generation.”
Added Metstrade exhibition manager Tessa Meijer: “At Metstrade, we are proud to support initiatives that not only champion diversity and inclusion within the marine industry, but also create meaningful impact beyond it. The Global Women’s Walk 2026 brings our global community together in a powerful way. Together we celebrate women’s contributions, amplify their impact and inspire the next generation.”
