The Herreshoff Marine Museum/America’s Cup Hall of Fame is holding its seventh Classic Yacht Symposium Friday through Sunday at the museum and the Roger Williams University Law School in Bristol, R.I.
Over three days, attendees will visit restoration shops to view projects and bond with fellow classic yacht enthusiasts over adult refreshments.
Visitors are invited to debate the definition of classic with an expert panel — John Rousmaniere, Matt Murphy, Jim Taylor and Donald Tofias. They also are invited to attend sessions with 10 scholarly papers by experts and owners on issues presented by their authors.
The event attracts a mix of owners, designers, builders and enthusiasts who gather biannually to celebrate the fine yachts of a bygone era and share their thoughts on the challenges of preserving, restoring, sailing and racing them.
