Part of the Fiscal Year 2023 State Economic and Infrastructure Development awards, the grant is designated for acquiring equipment for the future HGTC Marine Technology Center on the Georgetown, S.C., campus.
Construction on the center is scheduled to start in 2025 and the facility will specialize in the education of students in outboard marine technology and boat construction technology disciplines.
“The SCRC’s endorsement of our vision to be at the forefront of marine technology education is deeply appreciated,” Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, president of HGTC, said in a statement. “This initiative promises to create enduring benefits for our students and the wider community.”
