U.K.-based diesel outboard manufacturer Cox Powertrain announced that Gavin Wesson is its new chief operating officer.

Wesson has more than two decades of experience in the aerospace and aviation segment, overseeing manufacturing, engineering and the supply chain in senior leadership roles.

At Cox, he will be responsible for the continued development of the 300-hp diesel outboard — from production and engineering to purchasing and logistics — as the company ramps up production.

“[Wesson] has extensive experience in engineering and a strong track record as a successful leader at both small entrepreneurial businesses and large multinational matrix-based organizations,” CEO Tim Routsis said in a statement. “We will be working closely together to enhance further our processes in order to deliver on our long-term strategy.”

“Cox is a highly innovative company, with great technology and a wealth of talent. [It’s] is an exciting young business with big ambitions and exceptionally well placed for significant growth,” said Wesson.

Earlier this year, Cox announced an injection of capital, saying it raised GBP9 million ($12.5 million) from shareholders and borrowed GBP3 million ($4.2 million), with plans to expand its Shoreham manufacturing facility and increase production of its CXO300 diesel outboard.
